Programs & Activities
Explore the main areas of community life associated with NBIC: worship, Islamic learning, community connection, and welcoming engagement.
A masjid at the heart of community life
For Muslims, the masjid holds a special place in daily and communal life. It is a place for prayer, reflection, and strengthening a relationship with Allah, while also providing opportunities to meet neighbours and support one another. A welcoming atmosphere helps people of different ages, backgrounds, and levels of familiarity feel comfortable participating in community life. Understanding grows through regular reflection, sincere questions, and opportunities to learn. As an Islamic education center, NBIC supports the place of Islamic knowledge in community life. Education can help individuals and families build a stronger foundation for practice, understand the values that guide their choices, and pass meaningful traditions between generations.
Islamic education and lifelong learning
Understanding grows through regular reflection, sincere questions, and opportunities to learn. As an Islamic education center, NBIC supports the place of Islamic knowledge in community life. Education can help individuals and families build a stronger foundation for practice, understand the values that guide their choices, and pass meaningful traditions between generations. New Braunfels is connected to neighbouring communities across the wider San Antonio–New Braunfels area. NBIC welcomes the reality that people may travel from nearby places such as Schertz, Selma, Seguin, and Canyon Lake to take part in Muslim community life. Maintaining those connections requires clear communication, consideration for families’ schedules, and an understanding that a community’s needs may change over time.
Community connection and belonging
A community center is more than a building or a calendar of activities. It can be a point of connection for families, individuals, visitors, and neighbours who want to participate in a shared life shaped by faith and mutual respect. NBIC seeks to offer a welcoming environment where people can build relationships, ask questions, and take part in community activities with consideration for others. NBIC serves a multi-ethnic Sunni Muslim community. Unity does not require every person to share the same family history, language, or life experience. It asks people to hold to shared principles while treating one another with courtesy and recognising the dignity of every member of the community.
Dawah and respectful engagement
NBIC identifies unity, respect, and a welcoming spirit as important values. Unity reflects a commitment to the shared creed of Islam while recognising the diversity within a multi-ethnic community. Respect means treating people of different faiths, backgrounds, and social circumstances with dignity. Being welcoming means striving to make community participation warm, considerate, and accessible. These values are most meaningful when they guide practical choices: how visitors are greeted, how questions are answered, how shared spaces are treated, and how differences are handled. NBIC’s continuing role is to nurture a community where faith and good character support one another.
